Ride Adjustable Tricycle
The Hicycle combines the low cost, efficient transport of a bicycle with increased comfort, safety and practicality by using a height adjustable mechanism allowing the user to change their ride height depending on their environment.
Duku were briefed to provide a Concept Visualisation of a ride adjustable tricycle. Initial concept development work focused on exploring the range of adjustment required and optimal ergonomic seating positions. Following this, engineering solutions were provided to meet the adjustability requirements. The proposed solution would use a battery powered linear actuator to drive an extendable rear shaft outwards. As the shaft moved outwards, a linkage would pull the seat post into a lower position.
Once the principals of the mechanical system had been established, a CAD visualisation model was created to allow the mechanical system to be manipulated into the various different ride height configurations. The CAD model was then taken into a 3D animation phase, and a presentation video was created that used the CAD animation to demonstrate the product and its functionality.
