Automated Shooting Target
Duku were asked to assist with the styling, mechanical design and incorporation of bespoke electronics for an automated air rifle shooting target.
Our client approached us with a broad concept in mind of how the mechanical system would work. Duku were then tasked with developing this into a solution that was viable for cost effective mass production and assembly. In addition, material selection to provide robust injection moulded parts was considered, and an edgy, contemporary aesthetic treatment was developed.
CAD DEVELOPMENT & PROTOTYPING
Detailed CAD development work was undertaken to develop a complete product assembly and refine the mechanical design and moving parts within the casing. Bespoke electronic PCB's were accommodated into the casings and apertures for LED lighting were added. Prototypes of plastic parts were created using SLS, CNC, 3D Printing and Vacuum Casting techniques, allowing the aesthetics to be refined alongside the fitment of the mechanical assembly. Metal components were created from CNC machined parts, laser cut, bent and formed profiles.
A detailed manufacturing specification was created, including a bill of materials and technical drawings for all parts. Duku then provided detailed production tooling and unit costs.
