ALTHORPE STREET
Architectural Model
Duku were approached by an architect to create an architectural model to showcase a new housing development.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
In order to create 3D prints for the individual buildings required within the development, a CAD model was required. Duku were provided with an outline map of the proposed site, and architectural elevations to work from and then created a 3D CAD model that visualised the entire development.
PROTOTYPING
The 3D CAD files were then used as the basis for the architectural model. The architectural model was then fabricated using a range of prototyping techniques including CNC machining, laser cutting and 3D printing.
LIVE TRIALS
The component parts of the architectural model were then assembled onto a laser cut acrylic base with a printed overlay that showed street outlines, green areas and other important markings. LED lighting and scale foliage models were integrated to add realism and context to the model.
